The Stone

This ruby kyanite cabochon is 25 x 18 x 5mm, pear shaped and polished. The deep green kyanite matrix is threaded through with vivid ruby red and depending on the light it shifts and changes. Forest floor. Stained glass. Something ancient and alive. It is completely one of a kind and there is nothing else like it.

The Setting

I made this ring the way I make all of my pieces, by listening. The stone came first and everything else followed. Sterling silver (.925) throughout. The bezel features a dramatic swag silhouette, thick swooping silver that holds the stone with intention. The band is split with a subtle hammer texture that keeps it feeling handmade and warm rather than rigid or perfect. It wears alone as a full statement or can be a beautiful addition to your collection of eclectic pieces.

Caring For Your Ring

Ruby kyanite is a relatively hardy stone but it still deserves a little thoughtfulness. Remove this ring before washing your hands, swimming, showering, doing dishes, or applying lotion, sunscreen, or perfume. Moisture and chemicals can dull the stone's natural vibrancy and affect the finish on the silver over time.

To clean, use the included polishing cloth on the silver and a soft dry cloth on the stone. No silver dips, no ultrasonic cleaners, and no soaking. Chemical dips can strip the natural patina from the sterling and a soft stone matrix like kyanite does not respond well to harsh treatment. If the stone needs a light clean, a barely damp cloth wiped gently across the surface is enough. Dry it immediately and completely.

Store your ring in the included velvet pouch away from other jewelry to prevent scratching. Kyanite in particular can scratch or chip if knocked against harder stones or metal.

To cleanse energetically, sound, smoke, or moonlight are all safe options for this piece. Avoid water cleansing methods and keep it out of prolonged direct sunlight, which can fade both the ruby and the kyanite over time.

Treat it well and it will last a lifetime.
