Abalone Shell Oval Flower Pendant in Antiqued Sterling Silver (925) One-of-a-kind artisan piece - for wisdom and healing

Like holding a piece of the sea itself - this pendant captures the living iridescence of abalone shell in an ornate sterling silver setting that feels both ancient and utterly alive. Shifting from deep ocean teal to electric blue to luminous lime green depending on the light, the oval abalone cabochon is a natural masterpiece that no two people will ever see exactly the same way.

I felt this Abalone shell and wearer needed this to have an elaborate frame to celebrate its beauty. 

I added a light serrated bezel giving it a bit of extra shape and to keep the stone in place with a lightly textured backplate, then framed it with the intricate inverted heart sterling silver wire.  The outer frame was made by repeatedly annealing and bending the wire slowly working it into shape that reminded me of flower pedals or a sunburst.   The wearer who is meant for this piece will decide.  The bail mirrors and completes the piece with the same inverted heart wire adorning it.

Antiquing/oxidizing this piece helped show off the intricate details and make the natural abalone shell waves of color pop as if they are rolling through the ocean. 

Intuitive silversmithing means this piece came into being through feeling and flow - there is no other pendant like it, and there never will be.

• Store in a soft pouch or lined jewelry box away from other pieces to prevent scratching the shell surface.
• Abalone shell is sensitive to acids, chemicals, and prolonged moisture. Remove before swimming, bathing, or applying lotions, perfumes, and hairspray.
• Clean gently with a soft, dry cloth. Do not use silver dips or chemical cleaners, which can damage the shell's iridescent nacre layer.
• The oxidized silver finish is intentional - avoid polishing compounds or abrasive cloths that may strip the patina. A light buff with a plain silver cloth on the silver only (not the stone) is fine.
• Avoid prolonged direct sunlight, which can dull the shell's natural luster over time.
• To cleanse energetically: moonlight, sound bowls, or a brief pass-through sage or palo santo smoke are all gentle and safe for abalone. Avoid salt or water cleansing methods.
