Some jewelry is made to catch the light. These were made to hold the dark. If you've ever been drawn to the mystery of old things, stones pulled from deep in the earth, silver that looks like it carries a story it won't quite tell, then you already know what kind of person these were made for.
These sterling silver labradorite dangle post earrings feature a hand-fabricated bezel inspired by roots pulling from the earth, raw and reaching, holding the stone the way the ground holds everything it claims. Polished silver granule balls adorn the setting, their brightness a deliberate contrast against the dark oxidized silver surrounding them, light against dark, intention against instinct. From the base, a hand-fabricated oxidized chain falls to a hand-stamped and textured crescent moon on one earring and a hand-stamped and textured star on the other.

The Stone
Labradorite is a feldspar mineral that carries one of the most dramatic optical phenomena in the gem world, a phenomenon called labradorescence. From most angles it appears dark, almost secretive, a deep charcoal blue-gray. Then the light shifts and something wakes up inside it, a flash of electric blue, sometimes teal, sometimes violet, that appears to come from within the stone itself rather than off its surface. That quality is the whole reason I chose it for this piece. It does exactly what this design was asking for.
In spiritual traditions, labradorite is known as a stone of transformation and protection. It is said to create a shielding force around the aura, strengthening natural energies from within. Many believe it heightens intuition, supports self-discovery, and helps the wearer move through change without losing their footing. It is sometimes called the Stone of Magic, long associated with those who work with energy, intention, and the unseen.
Oxidized sterling silver carries its own symbolism in many traditions, connected to shadow work, depth, and the parts of ourselves we are still learning to know.

Care Instructions
Labradorite is a moderately hard stone (Mohs 6 to 6.5) but can be sensitive to impact along its natural cleavage planes, so handle with care and avoid dropping. Keep away from ultrasonic cleaners, harsh chemicals, perfume, and lotions, and remove before swimming, bathing, or exercising.
The oxidized finish on the silver is intentional and part of the design. It will gradually lighten with regular wear as skin contact polishes the raised areas, which many people find beautiful over time. If you want to preserve the dark patina, avoid rubbing the silver with a polishing cloth and simply wipe clean with a soft dry cloth instead. Store in the velvet pouch provided to protect both the stones and the finish between wears.
